Our model stand-in

What’s a photographer to do when she needs to test a light setup and there isn’t anybody around to drag into the studio (ahem, ’cause maybe he’s at his day-job for example)?

Well - she calls in the specialized services of our professional model stand-in. He’s always there to lend Tanya a paw, never complaining, sitting patiently for hours…

I suppose it’s time we gave him a name. Any suggestions?

Nephew Marcus

My sister Shawna came out to the studio on Saturday for a pregnancy shoot with Tanya. This will be her second kid, thus implying that there is a first one running around. Naturally it fell onto me to take care of Marcus, who is now about 18 months old, while Tanya and Shawna were in the studio.

At 18 months, he’s very mobile and very good at opening doors - so you have to keep your eye on him every second. I can see why moms get tired And I only had to watch him for about an hour.

Apparently watching Uncle Jeff work at the computer isn’t too captivating for a toddler - even explaining the finer points between the Spot Healing Brush and Healing Brush in Photoshop didn’t seem sway his single-minded focus on grabbing and throwing whatever was in reach.
So outside we went to enjoy a rare sunny Saturday that wasn’t too overly cold. Of course I also happened to have a camera with me…..
