A huge influx of babies haved arrived this year - another addition to our Veridamo family is baby Grace (aka Gracie). Her lucky parents are wedding clients of ours, Stefanie and Nick. Gracie arrived on March 4th 2009 weighing 6 lbs 10oz. and 19.5 inches long. When we photographed her she was just 11 days old. Congratulations Stef and Nick! Welcome to the “Club”!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our First Annual Halloween Spooktacular. We collected several hundred dollars in cash donations and tonnes of food for the Share Food Bank. Some of the most popular characters of choice were: Hannah Montanas, Witches, Super Heros, Pumpkins, Indianna Jones, Pirates and lots and lots of Fairies!
Below is a handful of little people that came to Trick or Treat. Unfortunately we aren’t able to post everyone’s photos - I’d be here all night! But we thank you all for coming out to support the Share Food Bank. We hope you will join us again next year and bring some of your friends too! Cheers, Tanya

A handsome little character visited the studio recently - of course accompanied by his loving parents Kristen and Christopher - former wedding clients of ours. Funny how that happens - the natural progression of love, marriage, baby carriage.. How many times did you hear that old Rhyme on the playground when you were a kid??? “So and So” and “So and So” Sittin’ in a tree K.I.S.S.I.N.G first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage.

Recently I photographed clients Carmen and Ingo with their two small children at Jericho Beach in Kitsilano. The first time we worked with them was to photograph their daughter Charlotte. This second occasion was to celebrate a more recent addition to the family - their son Ryan. For all those parents out there that know - what you do for one child, you must do for the other! This family was so much fun to photograph - they are very expressive and the children’s love of the beach made the session a breeze (quite literally). :)Charlotte is one of the most excitable children I have worked with - she laughs very easily. Ryan is quiet and philosophical - if that is possible at a young age. The images below are some of my favorites from the session.

You may remember that we photographed Steve and Jen’s wedding back in July 2006.
Almost exactly two years later we again had the privilege of photographing the two of them, but this time with the new addition to the family, their daughter Hayley.
Tanya took some great photographs of their fantastic baby room (Is Tanya jealous of that room? umm, yeah slightly) and both of us did a follow-up shoot over at Rocky Point Park to get some more natural outdoors shots. So of course it was hot and sunny all that week, except the Thursday morning we arranged to do the session. It sprinkled and rained. Sigh - but we adapted. There`s a few places to seek shelter there.
This week’s edition of TV Week is running an 8-page spread of images and a nice story telling of their early adventures in parenting - but you’ll just have to buy the magazine to find out and to see the images.
Here`s the cover so you know which issue to buy

Ok, sometimes the girls get a little too much attention on the blog. Ben is one of our recent cients who is going to break many hearts when he gets older.
He was such a little flirt with the ladies during our session. Ben’s hobbies are eating grass and putting anything within his grasp into his mouth!
We met Ben’s Mom in August 2000 when she had the envious role as a bridesmaid at a wedding that we photographed. Ben has the most beautiful blue eyes
you’ve ever seen. Below is a Storybook of his session at Britania Heritage Park in Steveston.

Spring is finally here. Well… between rainstorms that is!
With Spring comes the boundless energy of our client’s children! Emma is an independent 4 years old! She was so much fun to photograph and she loves the camera!
We visited one of our local beaches for this session on a beautiful spring morning. The cherry blossoms were blooming and the magnolia trees fragrant. Below is a quick portrait storybook of Emma’s outing. This layout is an example of some of our custom storybook designs.

While in San Francisco, Tanya and I travelled to Folsom, a suburb of Sacramento (the capital of California). For those that know me, the software company I work for has its headquarters in Folsom so I’m down fairly often. Folsom is best know for it’s prison (thanks to Johnny Cash), but is a great family-friendly suburb.
While there we spent a couple hours in an area known as Old Folsom photographing the Berti family. The weather was great and a very slight overcast sky made for great lighting. We were down by the river and then moved off to the local ‘zoo’ to complete the morning.
Here are some higlights:

Welcome to the world baby Amélia! It was such a pleasure to photograph you with your Mom and Dad. They are so excited that you have arrived – even though they get less sleep (ok a lot less sleep) and have mountains of soiled sleepers to wash! It is fascinating to watch your parents receive your sweet smile – waiting for your little personality to emerge. They marvel at your super-human strength – your grip around their fingers (although I think it is you that has them wrapped around your finger)! These last couple of months are a blur to them and if they are lucky the rest won’t go by so fast!
In an attempt to preserve your “newness” in their world, I had the opportunity to capture some of your fleeting moments so that the very night your Mom and Dad hand you the keys to the family car, and you go off on your grown-up adventures, they can sit down and remember every moment and every milestone.
Amélia, be easy on your Mom and Dad - they are new at this! If they thought it was hard now, wait until a year from now when you’re mobile…

Back in February we wrote a post congratulating long time clients Krista and Rod Langtry on the birth of their second daughter Lola Elizabeth. We promised that we would post some images once we had photographed Lola. We ended up doing two sessions with Lola – one with her big sister Emma and then with Mommy.
The thing I love about photographing babies is that you just never know what you’re going to get! Sometimes they decide to sleep, sometimes they cry, and sometimes they smile during the entire session. Lola did neither.
We have had the opportunity to work with Lola’s sister and her family many times! So, I was anticipating an easy session since they know the drill and we know how to get them to respond to the camera. Lola was having a troubling day and couldn’t keep any milk down – so instead Krista and I both wore more milk than Lola drank!
Whatever the circumstance, a patient photographer prevails and between spit-up, we managed to get quite a few cute shots of Lola.
