PPOC National Convention

It’s time for yet another conference and opportunity to learn more about the photography craft.

A couple of times a year we attend conferences to improve our skills as photographers, both technically as well as to improve our business skills.  This year’s Canadian national convention (PPOC) is at the beautiful Fairmont Mount Tremblant about 1.5 hours from Montreal.

Walking through the Village today you could blink and you feel like you are at Whistler, well except for the Mountains! The Village has the same charm as Whistler but an Eastern version of it with a Montreal flair. I am getting the opportunity to speak french though… pretty much everyone attending the conference is from Quebec it seems - not much representation from BC yet! I also found out that after a glass of wine they speak even faster here!

Hope to update with some photos of the area. Bon Soir!

Spring is here - time to get out with the camera!

Happy New Year to everyone!

This photo of Emma is a great reminder that overcast weather makes for wonderful portraits!

We hope you are all enjoying the unseasonably warm weather and looking forward to all the upcoming festivities heading our way. With all of the buzz in our city there will be many unique opportunities to get some patriotic photographs of the family.

While on a yearly planning retreat to Harrison Hot Springs this weekend, we were able to experience the Olympic spirit firsthand as the Olympic Torch Relay made its way through the resort community. We were surprised and delighted by the outpouring of patriotism and couldn’t help but notice what a wonderful opportunity these upcoming weeks will be to get out with the family for a once in a lifetime experience. If only I had had my camera!! (As a reminder to the rest of you don’t forget yours : ))

Now that the studio has finally settled down after the Kids of Vancouver Book Project and the Christmas rush, we will be doing more regular updates on the blog.  Stay informed by joining our Facebook fan page. Simply type: Veridamo in the search box and our fan page comes up and you can join there!

Introducing….. Lila

We’ve expanded….

To help with both the production and sales side of our business, we are very happy to have found LIla Smith to pick up the slack.

Here’s the obligatory studio shot… actually she was handy as a test model when setting up the lights. So we’ve got this picture of her but we should really take an image of her at her desk, but we can’t do that because my desk might show up and it’s a bit, um, disorganized at the moment.  But I’ve got lots of good excuses…. I’m a pretty busy guy.

We will be using her very personable personality to meet with clients such as yourself to charm you into purchasing prints and wall portraits (hey, this is a business after all), and her Humanities and Visual Arts degree to help in our production side to make our images look even better.

Welcome Lila… clap clap clap

Halloween Spooktacular

Thank you to everyone who participated in our First Annual Halloween Spooktacular.  We collected several hundred dollars in cash donations and tonnes of food for the Share Food Bank. Some of the most popular characters of choice were: Hannah Montanas, Witches, Super Heros, Pumpkins, Indianna Jones, Pirates and lots and lots of Fairies!

Below is a handful of little people that came to Trick or Treat.  Unfortunately we aren’t able to post everyone’s photos - I’d be here all night!  But we thank you all for coming out to support the Share Food Bank.  We hope you will join us again next year and bring some of your friends too!  Cheers, Tanya

Fun in the Sun

One of our long time clients, the Raines Family came in to celebrate Sienna’s first birthday so we took the kids to the beach.  Thank goodness Mom brought extra clothes for them to wear.  A session with us sometimes entitles the kids to get dirty or wet - even though they wouldn’t otherwise get the opportunity!

Engagement: Alisa & John

It isn’t too uncommon these days for an engagement shoot to actually be a family session as the couple getting married already have one or more kids. This is the case with Alisa and John who have been together for approximately, oh, forever, but recently became inspired to get officially hitched after they partipated in Cara and Brock’s wedding last year. (Normally we would link to the blog entry where we posted Cara and Brock’s images, except we never made one. What??? How could that be? Did we have a baby that sucks all our spare time? Well, at least they made it as a featured wedding in our main website.)

So back to Alisa and John…. Back in June we took a trip out to White Rock beach to photograph them with their two boys (Carson and Brendan) and here’s a sample of what we managed to get….
