Congratulations to the men’s hockey team on their victory over the weekend - what a way to finish off our best winter Olympics yet : )
Here is the latest album to arrive featuring our own little hockey champ Liam, who knows how to get out there and have a great game rain or shine!

So, going backwards, many of you have been asking about my infamous trip to Cuba in November. With the book project ending and the Christmas rush upon us, I never did post any images. Look for the vacation pics on tomorrow’s blog entry.
Cuba was a somewhat “restful” vacation - although not much sleeping went on! The trouble is, I met a wonderful group of people who’s young spirit kept me on my toes and reminded me of my University days. In the end, I photographed the wedding of a young Toronto couple and have gained some great friends out of the trip. The images aren’t representative of our signature “Veridamo moody” style since I didn’t pack my suitcase with the usual tools of choice but it is the couple that makes them special!

A toast to a long and happy marriage!

Jeff and Kim… will wedding bells ring next for them?

Isabelle and Roy came all the way from Newfoundland.

Jeff, These boys could get into some serious trouble together!

The whole gang… so many it took a train to bring them all over!

So on Tuesday I was fortunate to attend the Women’s Snowboard Cross competition at Cypres.
Jeff’s parent’s won the tickets through Rona’s Spin & Win Contest. I begged them to give them to me since they weren’t keen to do the 2km walk and the 215 stairs to climb to the grandstands. I took my dear friend Aura with me since she’s the kind of gal that will scream and holler with excited patriotism just like myself! And boy did we have fun!

Those of you who have facebook would have seen the “drowned rats” we were waiting for the rain and fog to subside. It wasn’t pretty. We looked like red and blue marshmallows just waiting to be cooked over a nice crackling fire. That would have actaully been a good thing. Did I mention how cold and wet the day was to start?

The beautiful venue. VANOC did an amazing job of the graphics and the colour selection for the branding etc. It looked perfect against the mountains.

French Pair Skaters Vanessa James and Yannick Bonheur are the first black couple to ever compete in Figure Skating at the Olympic games. Vanessa was actually born in Canada and grew up in England. They were kind enough to spare a few minutes with spectators at the Snowboard Cross competition. It’s so much fun to rub shoulders with such incredible athletes.

Another Rona fan that accompanied our group!

Lots of Canadian flags. Never have I ever felt more proud to be a Canadian than at this event. Canadian’s show such sportsmanship - cheering on all of the athletes not just our own (although we certainly cheered ALOT louder).

Don’t recall who these two athletes were… would have to go back and check…

Maelle Ricker making her last jump to the finish line! ITS A GOLD MEDAL!!!!!

The first Woman to win a Gold Medal on Canadian soil.

Maelle Ricker’s parents Nancy and Carl were sitting right behind me - very proud!
Nancy is a retired Biology Professor and Carl is a retired Geologist.

Sebastian - one of Rona’s senior executives - also our host for the day!

There it is Ladies and Gentlemen… here are the results!

And the flowere ceremony…. love the flags!

Carl Ricker, Maelle’s Dad. Proudly clapping as Maelle stands on the podium.

Doesn’t she look great up there in the middle!

My favourite photo of the day!

1st place for the most adventurous photo shoot goes to…
Ysabel and Madison!
These girls sure know how to have fun and aren’t about to let a little mud get between them and a good time : ) Photographed at Old Mill Site, Port Moody, this is a great example of how gorgeous candid photos can be when kids are allowed to be kids!

Another adorable addition to our 9 panel collection has arrived and baby Xavier couldn’t be more charming! This is an example of a custom 9 panel art canvas from an in studio baby portrait session. It will be the final touch to Xavier’s perfect room : )

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and what a great excuse to get together with friends and family for some sweet treats! Creating heart shaped delights is a great way to spend the afternoon with loved ones, and with the special day falling on Sunday this year there will be plenty of opportunity to get in some craft and confection time over the weekend : )

Veridamo Family creations: This was our creative outlet for the day and a group effort was required! It was great to see the different creativity from both Lila and Christina. Alexia was more than happy to get in on the action as well, especially when it came time to sample (or devour) the sweet treats! After 2 years of trying to get Alexia to eat new food it looks like we have finally found her calling!

Baby Sierra’s album arrived this week but we just had to post this first! Part of our 9 panel art series often used with newborn shoots in studio, this canvas design works just as well to show off all of Sierra’s adventurous toddler cuteness out on location!

Photographed on her very own lawn with some of her favourite things, this canvas is sure to be a cherished keepsake as Sierra grows up : )

So this morning we woke early to catch sight of the Olympic Torch Relay making it’s way through Port Moody. The spirit of Port Moody residents was neither dampened by the early wake up nor the rain!
On our way down Heritage Mountain Boulevard we were shocked that the entire boulevard was already lined with cars at 6:15am and people walking down the hill to catch a glimpse of the flame at Port Moody City Hall and Newport Village. We continued along Ungless Way passing Eagle Ridge Hospital and then left onto Guildford way. The streets were packed with residents yeilding flags, banners and umbrellas full of life and screaming with exuberance their excitement. We strategically found a spot close to a Starbucks on Guildford Way on the median island - a great spot!
We hope you all get out during these next couple of weeks to celebrate the Spirit of the Olympics and enjoy all the free events going on. This is a great opportunity to spend time with family and friends and take some memorable photographs!

Our little princess decked out in full Olympic gear!

Strategically placed ourselves close to a Starbucks so we could get our morning fix.

And the rain came down!

… and then the half naked bodies…. ooh so cold out!

The Official Olympic Cheering Squad to rally the crouds.

Port Moody’s Olympic Torch Bearer. We have yet to find someone who knows who it is! So if someone out there reading this can tell us we’ll let you know!

Now that’s Olympic Spirit!!!
